Have been back in Oz just over a month after five weeks OS but only feel now I've caught my breath. The week I got back we buried my dear friend and legendary drummer Robbie Souter. A wonderful gentleman of Australian music who I performed countless shows with over nearly thirty years and played on many records I produced, from Karma County's first album to my last solo album Sonofobituary. A lovely, lovely man.
Played Dark Mofo in Hobart with Buried Country in early June then flew to Darwin and on to the Barunga Festival, a fantastic experience. Next week I'll be setting up at my fave recording space, Bondi Pavilion studio 1, to continue work on the recordings I made in Italy in April with musicians Aldo Betto, Giacomo Da Ros & Youseff Ait Bouazza and engineer Daniele 'The Chipster' Di Giovanni. This one has got a lot of story, some real 'funk' in the ensemble recordings, and I hope to bring the guys out to Australia next year to tour. See youse all on the mean streets... Brendo
